total support for Safety and Health
in your organisation
EDP offers as much or as little support as you need to implement a Safety Management System. Our outline approach is:
We help you to identify where you are most at risk and to establish priorities for action. Legislation represents the minimum standard for which to aim, though maximum benefit comes from making your safety systems as effective as possible.
We examine your current systems and practices against the risks associated with your people premises and processes.
Like an accountant audits your finances, we do the same for your health, safety and environment, resulting in an overview of your organisation's performance.
We put together a work programme for improving your organisation's safety and health performance – something we refer to as a Project Route Map. We then work with your people, providing as much or as little support as you need to implement the required systems.
Our methods are consistent with UK and International standards - HSG65 and OHSAS 18001 - and we are happy to advise on which are the most appropriate standards to aim for in your circumstances.
A core activity is identifying risks and finding workable solutions for managing them. After training, your own staff may undertake much of this work. We provide help with specialist areas such as Fire Safety or Asbestos Management. We can do all the work or any part of it; providing training and mentoring for your own staff as needed.
Most benefits arise directly or indirectly from this activity. In addition to safeguarding your people and the environment, other potential benefits include better staff morale, lower levels of absenteeism, improved staff retention, improved efficiency and productivity, and others.
Good quality training is essential for improving safety and health, for example:
Safety and health is probably not your core business and therefore you need access to specialist knowledge from time to time, for example to help you understand the implications of legal changes or provide guidance on how to respond if something goes wrong.
EDP aims to keep you up to date with changes in health safety and environment legislation and provides help with routine enquiries or advice when something goes wrong.
As far as possible, our aim is to provide a "safe pair of hands" for all your health, safety and environment needs.
Some clients prefer to manage the day-to-day operation of their safety and health themselves. Others prefer to outsource as much as possible to dedicated professionals, either because they don't have the expertise in house or they don't want to be distracted from their core business activities.
EDP offer all the resource you need from regular visits to check everything is running smoothly to deploying one or more consultants permanently on your site.
Regardless of the level of support you need, we guarantee all our work to the same high standards.
